HDPE or LDPE?

Both are polyethylene, but the difference in density changes feel, strength, flexibility and price. A short guide to choosing right.

HDPE (high density)

  • Lighter and stronger at the same thickness, matte feel with a crisp rustle.
  • Suits supermarkets, groceries, restaurants and delivery.
  • Typical range about 12–30 micron.
  • Density about 0.95, so more bags per kilo.

LDPE (low density)

  • Softer, glossier and more flexible, handles sharp edges.
  • Suits fashion, perfume, gifts, laundries and heavy waste.
  • Thickness from about 15 micron for light covers to 80 for heavy bags.
  • Density about 0.92.

Printing on both

Both HDPE and LDPE take print, up to 6 colours in total. LDPE's gloss gives colours a softer look; HDPE's matte finish looks practical.

Common questions

Which is cheaper?

At the same thickness HDPE gives more bags per kilo, but the final price depends on raw material prices at the time and the specification.

Can I get a T-shirt bag in LDPE?

Yes, we have LD T.S and LD B products, printed and plain.

Which material for garment covers?

LDPE, because it is softer, glossier and clear.
